Minor Heroes (Lyrics By S.P.)
Celebration day for all the minor heroes
Many people came to hear the man with zeros
They waved a flag of gray and wept a song of longing
Hope lay satisfied in the arms of mourning
There’s a fall-out shelter, with a new facade
There’s an oil painting, of a neon sign
It’s a new beginning, to an ancient song
There’s another saviour, spouting right from wrong
The lawyer plead his case, a writer lost the meaning
A mayor hid his face, an actors teeth were gleaming
A runner ran in place, designer sharpened scissors
The brokers staying late, a batters arms grew bigger
There’s a fall-out shelter, with a new facade
There’s an oil painting, of a neon sign
It’s a new beginning, to an ancient song
There’s another saviour, spouting right from wrong

Gothic Arches Towards the Soul Of Brooklyn By Diana Vargas Trent
Pase el puente de Brooklyn grandioso
entre la ciudad:
fui a parar donde reina el reposo
la ruin realidad!
Mire tumbas fastuosas. altivas:
riqueza, esplendor.
el tributo de las gentes vivas
al ultimo amor.
a fragment of a poem by enrique hernandez-miyares describing his visit to the greenwood cemetery in brooklyn in 1891. in the first line of the poem he says: “i crossed the great brooklyn bridge and entered the city.” when he wrote the poem brooklyn was a city.
